FAQ
See below for some questions which are commonly asked. If you can't find what you're looking for, don't hesitate to contact me.
HOW MANY SESSIONS DO IÂ NEED TO BOOK?
You can book as many or as few sessions as you like. In our initial consultation and assessment session, we will discuss what your child's needs are and then decide how many and how often the sessions will be.
MY CHILD IS SHY. WILL HE/SHE FIT IN WITH THE GROUP SESSIONS?
I find that even the quietest of children become confident over a period of time. The small groups, with a maximum of 8 children, mean that every child has a voice and has a chance to interact with their peers and myself. With less of a focus on individuals, group sessions tend to be less intense for those who are not as confident, which allows them to focus on their learning without having to worry about anything else!
I HAVE TO CANCEL MY SESSION. WILL I STILL GET CHARGED?
24 hour notice is required to cancel a session. Any cancellations within this time will result in payment needing to be made for the lesson.
I WANT TUITION FOR MY CHILD BUT I CAN'T AFFORD THE 1:1 SESSIONS. ARE THERE ANY OTHER OPTIONS?
Yes. The group sessions offer an affordable alternative to the one-to-one sessions. Although your child will not be receiving sole attention, he/she will still benefit from a small group setting and be able to receive the help they need.
WHAT ARE YOUR TEACHING HOURS?
After school and weekends. Please contact me to find out further details.
WILL MY CHILD RECEIVE HOMEWORK?
In the group sessions, yes. They will be expected to complete this each week to keep up with the work and their peers.
With the 1:1 sessions, we can discuss this during our initial consultation and assessment session. I always recommend homework to be set and completed as it helps to reinforce the work done during the session.
HOW MUCH DO CHILDREN TYPICALLY IMPROVE AFTER YOUR SESSIONS?
The answer to this varies hugely. This depends on your child's learning pace, how often they attend and how much they are willing to put into each session too! I am confident that your child will see success if they try hard and stay consistent.
WHY DO YOU ONLY ALLOW A MAXIMUM OF 8Â CHILDREN PER GROUP?
This allows me to focus on and give attention to each child within the given time. Small groups also allow each child to participate and have all of their questions answered.
WHAT EXPERIENCE DO YOU HAVE?
After leaving University with an English Language & Linguistics and Psychology degree, I began tutoring children from 4 years old up to GCSE. Soon after, I trained for a PGCE with Spanish and then began teaching in a one-form entry Primary School, just outside of Maidstone, Kent. Here, I taught a range of year groups and spent time in each class to gain experience in how children of all ages learn.
DO YOU HAVE AÂ DBS CERTIFICATE?
Yes. I have an Enhanced DBS certificate and am on the Update Service, meaning that my certificate is updated and renewed automatically each year.
